DraftKings NBA Point Guards:

Best Bets:

Few are hotter than Damian Lillard to open the season. This was a great matchup for LIllard even before Fox went down. Joseph is maybe a better defender, but not much better. This should be another dominant performance from Lillard.

You can say Kyrie is option 1B, but I wont. He was shut down by Rubio over the weekend. Conley and the Jazz are capable of doing the same. Trae Young is a much better play, and is $100 cheaper. The Hawks are depleted right now. Young is about all they have for scoring options. He has 126.5 DraftKings points over the two games Collins has missed so far. Another 60 could be forthcoming.

Honorable Mention:

We saw Ricky Rubio drop 50 on the Nets over the weekend. That was the high point for Rubio in his season of redemption so far. The Lakers are solid against guards, and I like this less if Rondo plays, but it seems silly to bet against Rubio right now. However, he needs to keep his assists high to compensate for his lack of consistent scoring.

The usage is still really high for Malcolm Brogdon, but he has started to slow down a little. Brogdon is still hitting 5x value in most games, but it’s just barely when he does. I publish the winning scores every day. We need closer to 7x value than 5x. I don’t know that I would use Brogdon outside of cash games right now.

Rubio just dropped 50 on the Nets. Now it could be Mike Conley‘s turn. Conley was very good against the Warriors last night, and is slowly erasing his horrendous start in a Utah uniform. He and Mitchell are working well together now. We aren’t seeing 50 from Conley tonight, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see him flirt with 40.

Dark Horse:

Rookies always fight slumps, and RJ Barrett has hit his first one. The usage is still there for Barrett, so I understand using him. I’ll gladly go with veteran bench sparkplug Dennis Schroder for the same price. Schroder usually outperforms CP3 and/or SGA in every game. The minutes are there, and Schroder has been piling it on off the bench lately.

Collin Sexton has topped 20 points in three of the last five games. It should be four of six after his meeting with the Sixers provided Simmons is still out. If Simmons plays, I have no interest in any Cavs guards. Darius Garland is an enticing play for the price as well. If Simmons is out, his replacement, Trey Burke, came up big on Sunday. Burke may be better than them all!

Right now the usage is through the roof for Frank Ntilikina, and it will remain that way if Smith is still out. The Knicks are only evaluation Smith’s conditioning now, so pay close attention to this. If Smith plays, I wont use Frank. He needs every bit of the 35 minutes he has been running per night to hit value.
