Lifelong Philadelphia 76ers’ fan, Lauren Gordon, has been chosen as the 2019 FanSided Fan of the Year!

Since the age of 12, Lauren Gordon has lived and breathed the Philadelphia 76ers. Her first game came during the 1982-83 championship season and she was hooked by the magic of Moses Malone and Julius Erving. She’s met countless players, written letters to the front office to let them know how she feels about trades and filled a closet with an unbelievable collection of 76ers gear.

And now, she can add one more piece of memorabilia to her collection — recognition as FanSided’s 2019 Fan of the Year.

Gordon spoke with FanSided after being selected as a finalist and talked about the close relationship between herself and the team.

"“For me, I think the Sixers do a good job of making it feel like a family. It’s kind of as if one of my nephews was being inducted in the Hall of Fame, or one of my daughters, or my son, whomever. I don’t wanna sound psychotic or anything, but I feel attached to the players.”"

"“Like my family members say, the more things I do, the more if just kind of fuels my fire and the passion because it’s just like, ‘Oh my God, I’ve been riding this crazy train for so long, I can’t get off! I’m too into it right now! Like, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.”"

The FanSided Fan of the Year contest is meant to recognize fans who exemplify dedication, integrity and “Fansmanship” all for the love of the game. Good Fansmanship means representing the teams you follow and the communities those teams represent in a positive way at all times thus perpetuating all that is good about sports and sports fandom.

Gordon was chosen from an incredible selection of finalists and will receive a $2,500 gift card to StubHub, to help make sure she can be in the stands as the 76ers look to make a deep playoff run this spring. Stay tuned for details on next year’s contest and maybe you could be chosen as the 2020 FanSided Fan of the Year.
