1. Damian Lillard

The closest thing we have to a sure thing, and with all due respect to Jokic, Embiid, and everyone else mentioned here, no one else is particularly close.

It hasn’t always been rosy. Remember, it was only a year and a half ago that Lillard had a sit down of sorts with the late Blazers owner Paul Allen, reportedly over the direction of the franchise.

That meeting came two years after Lillard first expressed his desire to remain in Portland for the rest of his career. So when Lillard doubled down on the idea that he wanted to be a Blazer for life later on in 2018, you could forgive onlookers for being skeptical.

That was, of course, until this summer, when Dame signed a five-year extension which will keep him employed in the great northwest until 2025, or just short of his 35th birthday. By that point, he will inarguably be the greatest Trail Blazer ever. For one of the NBA’s oldest and more storied franchises, that carries legitimate weight.

So perhaps it’s fitting that the player most likely to carry on Steph’s tradition is the one whose game is most closely patterned after Curry’s and who hails from Curry’s adopted hometown of Oakland.

Let the good old days roll.

Meet the 2019 NBA 25-under-25. dark. Next
