Pat McAfee continues to prove why he is a legend. The dude just belly-flopped off a boat and into the Brazos River on ESPN’s College GameDay in Waco, Texas.
You never know what you’re going to get out of Pat McAfee on any given day. The former punter of the Indianapolis Colts is quickly becoming a sensation helping ESPN out with its college football coverage. Usually, he’s in the booth to call Thursday night games on ESPN, but on Saturday morning, you better believe he was in Waco, Texas for College GameDay.
Waco hosted ESPN’s college football pre-game show on Saturday because the undefeated Baylor Bears have a huge Big 12 game vs. the Oklahoma Sooners. The winner of this game will emerge as the clear frontrunner to win the Big 12 and contend for the College Football Playoff. Plus, McLane Stadium is an awesome stadium, situated along the banks of the Brazos River.
During a segment with former Georgia Bulldogs standout David Pollack, McAfee decided to go for it and attempted a dive off a double-decker boat into the Brazos. McAfee said the last time he pulled off this kind of shenanigan, he was allegedly arrested. Well, he pretty much belly-flopped and looked to immediately regret the decision to submerging himself into frigid water in a suit.

This is what makes The Pat McAfee Show one of the greatest things ever. He may not have been the punter of Pro Football Hall-of-Famer Ray Guy‘s caliber professionally, but he’s the most entertaining special teams player the world has ever seen. Did Pollack have an idea that his ESPN colleague was going to take this plunge? Does it really even matter? This was pure entertainment.
Disney is known for its conservative nature, so we have to wonder if McAfee will get in trouble for doing this? Let’s absolutely hope not, because this is the viral content human beings crave. If it’s not a fight or a dog video, this is the stuff the internet was designed for. But we have to wonder if that suit is ruined for good? Can you imagine what his tailor must think of this incident?
We can only hope that McAfee calls every Thursday night game on ESPN in this suit for the rest of the season. It only needs to be air-dried. His colleagues will absolutely hate it, but America will absolutely love it. We need more on-air aquatics during college football pre-game shows.
