DraftKings showdown: Sunday night football Rams vs Bears Nov. 17
DraftKings Showdown-High-End Options
Cooper Kupp WR LAR-$10,600
Cooper Kupp has been complete feast or famine as of late. In week eight, Kupp went off for 220 yards and a touchdown on seven catches, good for 38.0 DraftKings points. Then after his bye, Kupp comes out and puts up a goose egg last week against the Steelers. That is zero points.
Kupp has had enough huge games to warrant his game-high price tag, and he has the potential to make it worth taking him on your team. If he has another 30 point game, he will make those that took him as their captain very happy. If he puts up another dud, it would be impossible to win anything with him in the captain slot.
I would strongly consider Kupp as a FLEX even with his price tag. This game isn’t very deep with valuable fantasy options so the potential of Kupp is enough to make him a bit of a must-have for me. As the captain, though, you better hope he absolutely goes off.
Jared Goff QB LAR-$10,600
Jared Goff is one of my favorite picks as a captain for this game. I know, it said on the first slide that quarterbacks aren’t typically the captain in winning lineups, but it does happen occasionally. Even this Thursday, Baker Mayfield was the captain of the lineup that won the tournament I entered.
Who is guaranteed as much opportunity to score as many fantasy points as Jared Goff? Todd Gurley has not been the Todd Gurley from the past few seasons this year and isn’t getting the volume or production to have that sort of trust from fantasy players. Goff has had his ups and downs, but the ball is in his hands and the Rams sink or swim with Goff at the forefront.
The Bears are not a great matchup for Goff, but again, I think he will have to pick his spots and pick apart that Chicago defense to win. This way, it doesn’t matter who the ball is thrown to. As long as the Rams are throwing the ball, Goff will be getting the points. Neither running back is all that great and the wide receivers don’t see enough consistent volume for me to confidently put them in as my captain.
Robert Woods WR LAR-$8,600
Brandin Cooks is out again for this game, meaning a step up the depth chart for Robert Woods. While he may see stiffer coverage, he should also see increased targets than if Cooks was on the field.
In the midst of an up-and-down season, Woods put up 16.5 DraftKings point last week against the Steelers with Cooks out. He saw 11 targets that game, so if he gets that same attention from his quarterback again this week then he has a good chance to be a valuable fantasy player in this slate.
Allen Robinson WR CHI-$9,400
Allen Robinson has been a very reliable fantasy receiver most of the season to this point, no matter who was at quarterback for the Chicago Bears. Last week he caught six balls for 86 yards.
While Robinson is averaging 15.1 DraftKings points per game so far this year, he will likely be mirrored by new Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey. Ramsey has the potential to shut down his opposition, so this may not be Robinson’s best opportunity to be a valuable fantasy player. Chicago will have to get creative when trying to get their star receiver open and fantasy players that take Robinson have to hope that he is able to get himself open and catch a few big passes against one of the best young corners in the game.
Others to consider: Todd Gurley RB LAR $8,800, Gerald Everett TE LAR-$8,000, David Montgomery RB CHI-$9,000
