Week 12 Waiver Wire: Target Jeff Driskel and Jonathan Williams
By Bill Pivetz
If you are on the hunt for an injury replacement player or want to shore up your bench, check out these waiver wire options for week 12.
Week 12 is here. That means there are just two more weeks left of the fantasy football regular season. It also means, for most leagues, that this is the last week to make a trade. If you’re a team on the fringe of making the playoffs, this week is crucial. There are plenty of players for you to add off the waiver wire to help improve your team.
Week 12 has four teams on bye, the Arizona Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota Vikings. That means fantasy owners will be without Kyler Murray, Patrick Mahomes, Philip Rivers, Kirk Cousins, Dalvin Cook, Melvin Gordon, Austin Ekeler, Christian Kirk, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Keenan Allen, Stefon Diggs and a few others.
Coming out of week 11, there were also a few players who were hurt and will miss at least one game. The combination of injuries and bye weeks make this week’s waiver wire list an important one for most fantasy owners.

As usual, the players listed will have ownership percentages less than 50 percent based on ESPN leagues. Some of these players may be one-week options while others could be on your playoff roster. They all have some value heading into week 12.
Jeff Driskel
Since taking over for Matthew Stafford, Driskel has put up decent fantasy numbers. He has a combined 478 passing yards with three touchdowns and one interception. His completion percentage leaves a lot to be desired but he’s not making many mistakes.
Stafford is listed week-to-week but it’s all but guaranteed to miss week 12. That means Driskel will make his third straight start against the Redskins. Washington’s defense is in the bottom third of the league, giving Driskel and the Lions offense to put up big numbers.
Nick Foles
Foles looked good in his first game back, throwing for 296 yards, two touchdowns and a pick against the Colts. He and the Jaguars will face the Titans in week 12. The Tennessee defense ranks 16th in points allowed to opposing quarterbacks, based on NFL.com scoring.
The Jaguars have a solid group of skill players. With DJ Chark, Leonard Fournette, Chris Conley, Dede Westbrook and Keelan Cole, Foles will have plenty of chances to score fantasy points. If you are in need of a bye-week fill-in, Foles is your guy.
Jonathan Williams
Marlon Mack suffered a hand injury during the week 11 game and it has been confirmed that he has a fractured right hand. There is no set timetable for his return but the fact that the injury is to the hand he carries the ball with, he will be out for a few weeks.
This opens the door to significant playing time for the backup running backs. Williams and Jordan Wilkins are likely to split time with Nyheim Hynes slated as the change-of-pace back. Williams looked good in relief, racking up 116 yards on 13 carries. If he can put up those numbers next week, there likely won’t be a committee.
Randall Cobb
The Dallas Cowboys coaches seem to want to limit Ezekiel Elliott’s touches as they continue to have Dak Prescott throw the ball 45 times a game. This bodes well for the Dallas pass catchers. Cobb has looked good over the past two weeks.
He has recorded six catches, 100-plus yards and a touchdown in each of the last two games. Cobb has at least seven targets in each of the last three games. Prescott is targeting him early and often.
A matchup against New England may not be ideal but if the Cowboys fall behind early, then they’ll be forced to throw it.
Ryan Griffin
With Chris Herndon on the IR, Griffin stepped up and was the Jets top scorer in week 11. He caught five passes for 109 yards and a touchdown. Griffin was, surprisingly, the Jets deep threat as four of his five receptions went for more than 15 yards.
Griffin will have a good chance to put up similar numbers in week 12 against the Raiders. They rank 28th in points allowed to opposing tight ends. As long as Darnold limits the turnovers, Griffin is a good streaming option.
Browns D/ST
The Browns defense had its best game last week since week 2. They held Pittsburgh to just seven points while recording four sacks and four interceptions. The defense has a good shot of repeating that performance in week 12.
The Browns face Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Dolphins this week. Fitzpatrick has not thrown a touchdown in two weeks. While the team continues to figure out its running game, Fitzpatrick will likely be forced to throw the ball 35 times again, setting the Browns defense up to make a big play or two.
The fantasy football regular season is coming to an end. The waiver wire list is shrinking each week. If you haven’t yet, now is the right time to cut that player you were waiting to break out or that star player that has lost a lot of value. Shifting focus to the playoffs now will give you the upper hand over your opponents.
