Better fantasy matchup this week: Alvin Kamara or Christian McCaffrey?

Two of the best running backs in fantasy football square off on Sunday. Who is the better fantasy play this week: Alvin Kamara or Christian McCaffrey?

If you’re a smart fantasy football player, you hopefully selected either Alvin Kamara of the New Orleans Saints or Christian McCaffrey of the Carolina Panthers in the top-four of your league’s draft back in August. These are two of the best running backs the NFL has to offer. So if you have either one of them on your fantasy team, he is a must-start every single week.

But let’s say somehow you have both for some reason because your friends are stupid and don’t understand what value looks like in fantasy football or you’re in a dynasty league or something. Who do you play on Sunday if you can only pick one: Kamara or McCaffrey? Fortunately, The Fantasy Footballers figured that out for us so we wouldn’t have to.

Mike Wright had only a one-word response for this question, “McCaffrey.” That’s all you need to know. McCaffrey can have a bad game and still give you 30 fantasy points because he is the greatest thing to happen to PPR since PPR happened. There may not be a better pass-catcher out of the backfield in the history of football than McCaffrey.

Of course, Kamara is excellent at that, too. The only problem is that the Saints offense only seems to throw the football at wide receiver Michael Thomas these days. Like Kamara and McCaffrey, Thomas is a must-start in fantasy football every single week. He has forced his way into the conversation as the best wide receiver in football, whether you believe that or not.

Looking back to Wright’s one-word response, it is interesting that this will be a road game for Carolina. It’s always very difficult to beat the Saints in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. But if the worst rushing offense in football can do it in the Atlanta Falcons and can do so convincingly, maybe McCaffrey is only destined to have his great game of the season?

Okay, probably not, but he’s been crushing it for you this year and will continue to do so for the rest of 2019. The only thing that can slow him down is the Panthers’ poor play at quarterback of late. Thanks a lot, Kyle Allen!
