The undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes find themselves on upset alert in college football Week 13 while previously unbeaten Baylor could lose a second straight.
The number of undefeated college football teams remaining is dwindling with each passing week as we enter the final two weeks of the 2019 regular season. Just last week, the Minnesota Golden Gophers were upset by Iowa (albeit at Kinnick Stadium) while the Baylor Bears dropped their first game by blowing a 28-3 lead against Oklahoma. Now there are only three unbeaten teams remaining but only one is on upset alert in Week 13.
Of course, the three undefeated teams left in college football are the LSU Tigers, Ohio State Buckeyes and Clemson Tigers. Clemson is off prior to their season finale against South Carolina while LSU is not likely to be bothered by an Arkansas team that has a claim as the worst Power 5 team in the sport.
As for Ohio State, they welcome the No. 8 Penn State Nittany Lions to The Shoe on Saturday afternoon in what will be their toughest matchup to date. The Buckeyes have been terrific this season and have left no doubt against any opponent they’ve faced. But any time you have a team of this caliber facing their truest test of the season this late in the year, they’re going to end up getting put on upset alert.
Beyond the Buckeyes, though, recently unbeaten Baylor is another team that’s getting put on upset alert in Week 13. The Bears are undoubtedly going to be feeling the effects of their heartbreaking loss to Oklahoma on Saturday but they have another tough test coming to Waco in the form of the admittedly inconsistent but still dangerous Texas Longhorns.
Joining these two teams in the danger zone on Saturday is a current Group of 5 favorite, another Big 12 team with dark horse College Football Playoff hopes and an SEC squad that still doesn’t feel like they can be trusted.
Let’s dive deep into each one of these teams and matchups as we look at the five teams on upset alert in Week 13 of college football.
