In one of the premier games of the Champions League group stage, Real Madrid host Paris Saint-Germain at the Santiago Bernabeau. In the first game between the two European giants, PSG defeated Real Madrid, 3-0, behind an Angel Di Maria brace. The French champions have clinched a knockout stage after winning all four group stage games. Madrid are second in the group with seven points and a draw will likely be enough to take the club through to the knockout stage.
Real Madrid are tied for first in La Liga and have only lost two games in all competitions this season, one being that previous Champions League clash with PSG. Despite the limited number of losses, the pressure is high on manager Zinedine Zidane. However, a victory against PSG on Tuesday should help calm the rabid fanbase. Karim Benzema is having a great season for Real Madrid and should play a large role against PSG. Benzema has 12 goals and six goals this season. If Real Madrid are going to make a deep run in the tournament, Zidane has to get Eden Hazard going. The Belgian superstar has got off to a slow start in his debut season with Madrid, scoring only one goal.
Paris Saint-Germain have already clinched a spot in the knockout stage and are running away with the title in Ligue 1, but do not expect the club to rest their key players against Real. The games against other European giants are measuring sticks for PSG. Managers across Europe wish they had some of the problems that Thomas Tuchel has when selecting a starting XI. The German manager has to decide between starting Di Maria, Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Mauro Icardi, and Edinson Cavani. No matter who Tuchel decides to start, it is extremely difficult to make a bad decision.
