Servant is directed by Academy Award nominee M. Night Shyamalan and follows Dorothy Turner, played by Laura Ambrose, and Sean Turner, played by Toby Kebell. This couple from Philadelphia tragically loses their child Jericho at the age of just 13 weeks. In order to help get through the mourning process, a life-like doll resembling the child is given to Dorothy to ease her pain and keep her from completely losing it. This therapeutic method takes too well, and Dorothy continues on like Jericho is alive, which means she needs to hire a nanny to help her with the so-called baby.
This leads the Turners to hire Leanne Grayson played by Nell Tiger Free, who seems eerily okay with the strange situation. Her unsettling demeanor and odd affection toward the Jericho doll understandably freaks out Sean, but possibly for a different reason that one would suspect. It soon becomes apparent that Sean and his friend Julian, played by Harry Potter star Rupert Grint, are hiding something regarding what really happened with Jericho.
Sean and Julian are not telling the whole story, and Leanne is definitely up to something. Nothing is as it seems, but one thing is for sure, the Turners have inadvertently brought a mysterious force into their home.
The first three episodes of Apple TV+ limited series Servant are set to premiere on Nov. 28 with new episodes becoming available to subscribers the following week every Friday.
