4. Oklahoma Sooners

Rank: 7 | Opponent: 21 Oklahoma State Cowboys | Time: Saturday, Nov. 30, 8:00 p.m. ET

Get ready for some points in Bedlam. As is seemingly always the case, the Oklahoma Sooners and Oklahoma State Cowboys come into their annual rivalry matchup as two explosive offensive teams. The two squads average a combined 80.3 points per game. And if that’s not enough for you, the teams give up a combined 51.9 points per game. This is going to be a shootout.

Whenever you have a game that could devolve into a shootout in itself, all bets are off from the get-go. By design, it could very much come down to the fortune and cliche of who has the ball last in the game and, thus, the last opportunity to put points on the board. But given that Oklahoma is the better team on paper, you might be inclined to think that they can get enough of a cushion to pull out the win easily.

That’s not a certainty, though. Jalen Hurts and the Sooners have been far from perfect over the past month of action, losing at Kansas State after digging a huge hole, barely staving off a comeback from Iowa State, having to come back from down 28-3 at Baylor and getting into a dogfight and winning against TCU last week. They have not played to their potential and have been troublesome defensively.

With the way that Chuba Hubbard and the rest of Mike Gundy’s offense have been playing this season, you have to believe their rushing attack can cause the Sooners defense a ton of problems. And with some explosive plays in the passing game, the Cowboys can match the dangerousness that Hurts, CeeDee Lamb and Oklahoma bring. No matter what, expect this game to be close — which means Oklahoma State could very well pull it out.
