2. Florida Gators

Rank: 11 | Opponent: Florida State Seminoles | Time: Saturday, Nov. 30, 7:30 p.m. ET

Though no one really seems to be talking about the Florida Gators at this point, they deserve a good bit of credit for the season that they’ve put together in 2019. Dan Mullen’s team has just two losses on the season, both of which came against teams that would make the College Football Playoff if the season ended today (LSU and Georgia). Thus, they’ve been a very good team.

But as good as they’ve been, the Gators are still limited in a number of ways. As is the case with several teams in the SEC this year, their defense is a fantastic group headlined by a lot of star-power but the offense has been inconsistent, even if Kyle Trask has been an upgrade for them at quarterback. And though the Florida State Seminoles are only 6-5, they represent a difficult challenge.

The Seminoles have been, once again, one of the most perplexing teams in college football. Despite elite talent on both sides of the ball, they’ve been inconsistent in every facet of the game. Their defense has two potential first-round picks in Hamsah Nasirildeen and Marvin Wilson but they’ve given up 27.5 points per game. Meanwhile, the offense has Cam Akers and several other weapons but has been held down by bad defenses like Wake Forest this year.

But when it comes to the Florida-Florida State rivalry, these two teams always play one another close. Perhaps more importantly, Willie Taggart is no longer coaching the Seminoles. That subtraction is to the benefit of FSU. As they look to get the program back on track, you have to believe this ultra-talented squad will want to make a statement against the Gators and Florida is susceptible to the upset loss given their offensive woes.
