9. Buffalo Sabres

While this jersey is more than likely to only last one season to honor the Buffalo Sabres’ 50 anniversary, it is officially the team’s alternate jersey for the 2019-20 campaign.

Some fan bases might be upset that their respective heritage or tribute jerseys didn’t make this list, but the Sabres are wearing these more than once or just a few times this season.

Buffalo’s been guilty of some questionable and bad jersey designs over the years, but the organization has slowly but surely made its way back to its original roots. No, this jersey isn’t royal blue and maze like the team’s original color scheme, but it’s an elegant design where modern meets vintage.

Incorporating the gold for the anniversary was a risk, but it’s worked out for the better in Western New York.

The primary crest has a majestic and powerful feel to it and the white base compliments that aurora of the modified Sabres logo.

Some might argue that the stripes at the belt area and on the sleeves of the jersey portray a “busy” appearance, but that’s not the case considering the shoulder areas were left empty. It’s a sleek look and again teams can’t go wrong with a vintage hockey feel, which usually means stripes are involved at the base and on the sleeves on a jersey.

The only critique about this uniform is the team wearing white themed gloves. The Vegas Golden Knights have the ability to get away with that move – but a team such as the Sabres should stick their strength, which is tradition.

Now, it’s just time for Buffalo to finally go back to the team’s original uniforms – that saying never seems to get old in hockey.
