6. Colorado Avalanche

When the Colorado Avalanche entered the league in 1995-96, not only was the team a great product on the ice for almost its first decade, but so were the team’s uniforms.

After moving from Quebec, where the Nordiques displayed some of the hockey’s best sweaters of all-time, Colorado didn’t disappoint with its jerseys until Reebok Edge redesigned the layout in 2006-07. Still, the Avalanche finally went back to its root once Adidas took over in 2017-18 and in addition took the team’s fashion-game one step further.

Colorado introduced its current alternates during the 2015-16 campaign and then fans were calling for this sweater to replace the team’s primary dark home jersey. The navy, maroon and white color scheme not only pops, but complements each other well and provide fans with a taste of the Rockies.

The navy is a different shade of blue than what the team has traditionally worn and for the first time the Avs didn’t spell out “Colorado” diagonally from the upper left side to the bottom right of on a third jersey.

The primary logo used for this alternate pays homage to the city’s original NHL franchise in the Colorado Rockies and it seemed that it was only a matter of time before the Avs modified a version of the Rockies’ original letter “C” inside the mountain logo.

This sweater hits all the facets of what it means to wear one of the best alternate sweaters in hockey, which is why it’s earned a top spot in the rankings.
