5. Gonzaga

The Bulldogs suffered their first loss of the season to Michigan in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament final, but we now all know that Michigan is very talented. So is this Bulldogs team as they now have victories over Texas A&M and Oregon so far this season. Forward Filip Petrusev is still playing well for the Zags, leading them in points with 16 and rebounds with 8.7. They will look to bounce back from the Michigan loss with a matchup against top 25 Washington this week.

4. Kansas

The Jayhawks notched their first impressive win after beating Dayton 90-84 in overtime. Sophomore Devon Dotson exploded in the victory over the Flyers scoring 31 points on 11-of-16 shooting. Dotson is averaging just under 20 points per game so far this season and has been the heartbeat of this Kansas team thus far. The Jayhawks will get their first top 25 opponent since the season opener when they take on Colorado on Saturday.

3. Maryland

Maryland is one of four teams in the Big Ten that are still undefeated and they are doing it behind a lackluster non-conference schedule, but a host of great players as well. Their latest victory, however, was their best one as they defeated Big East foe Marquette 84-63 yesterday. Anthony Cowan notched 22 points in the big victory and he has been the senior leader for the Terrapins so far. He leads the team in points as well as assists as they take on Notre Dame

2. Michigan

The Michigan Wolverines announced themselves to the country with three straight wins over Iowa State, North Carolina, and Gonzaga to take home the Battle 4 Atlantis crown. The last two winners of this same tournament later went on to win another tournament, the NCAA tournament. So, to say this team doesn’t deserve all of the praise that it is going to get in the coming week, would be blasphemous. It was a bold hire to get Juwan Howard as the head coach, but so far it seems to be paying off in droves for the Wolverines. Next, the Wolverines get another tough test in Louisville.

1. Louisville

The only thing stopping Michigan from taking the No. 1 spot this week was the stellar play of Louisville. They look like the team with the most talent, that hasn’t slipped up yet this season. They are led by Jordan Nwora who is scoring nearly 22 points per game for the Cardinals and is as dynamic as any player in the country. Dwayne Sutton and Ryan McMahon also give them great shooting as both players are shooting 53 percent from beyond the arc. With shooting like that, the Cardinals are going to be tough to beat this season. They will get their biggest test by far this season when they match up with the red-hot Michigan Wolverines on Tuesday.
