As if there was any doubt in the Heisman race left, Joe Burrow only further cemented his place at the top of the Heisman rankings in rivalry week.

College football rivalry week offers many opportunities in a variety of manners. For teams, they have the opportunity to make a final statement either for conference standings or perhaps to make their way into the College Football Playoff. For the elite players though, it’s the chance to try and make one final Heisman Trophy statement. And many players delivered just that.

Chief among those players was LSU Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow. The unquestioned favorite to win the Heisman Trophy through the first 13 weeks of the 2019 season did what he’s done all year against rival Texas A&M: dominate. In doing so, Burrow has all but locked up the most prestigious individual award in college football and, frankly, there is little doubt about that now.

Outside of Burrow continuing to play the part of a juggernaut, the Ohio State Buckeyes offensive duo of J.K. Dobbins and Justin Fields made their marks in The Game against Michigan. While lambasting the Wolverines in the Big House once again, both players accounted for four touchdowns and showed that Michigan had no answer for them while also stating their cases to be Heisman Trophy finalists that get the nod to New York City on Dec. 14.

While it might not be enough to get a finalist bid, two true sophomores in Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence and LSU wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase have finished the year exceptionally strong to make their case to crack the top 10 of these rankings in the Heisman race. Again, they may not be headed to the Big Apple but they’re putting college football on notice for next year, without question.

Now that rivalry week is in the books and with the conference championships alone standing between us and the ceremonies in New York, let’s check in on the Heisman rankings after Week 14, counting down the top 10 players in the race for the award.
