DraftKings NBA picks December 3: Ah, Capela!
By Mike Marteny
DraftKings NBA Centers:
Best Bets:
Andre Drummond ($9,100): Drummond is one of the premier rebounders in this league, so he has a very high floor. The scoring, mainly due to poor free throw shooting, leaves something to be desired, but Drummond is still a walking double-double. He is worth the price most of the time, even with Blake around.
Hassan Whiteside ($8,000): We know that Whiteside has pretty big upside even though he doesn’t play a ton of minutes. In the first meeting with the Clippers he showed that off. Whiteside had 48.25 DraftKing points in just 27 minutes, all while bugging Harrell. Whiteside is an intriguing mid range option tonight.
Honorable Mention:
Clint Capela ($7,800): Only one wayward board against the Clippers stopped Capela from logging seven straight games with at least 20 rebounds. The difference between him and Drummond is that Capela is a much more accomplished scorer, in no small part because he’s a decent free throw shooter. Capela has as much upside as anyone on the slate and looks super cheap for the price unless Houston limits his minutes after a two game absence.
Kristaps Porzingis ($6,500): I know that Porzingis is still being reined in by Dallas and the torrid start of Luka. I get it. However, this is way too cheap for him. Porzingis put up 43.5 DraftKings points in the first meeting with the Pelicans. We really do have to pay attention to matchups for Porzingis this year, but they don’t get much better than this.
Tristan Thompson ($6,000): Thompson remains a strong defender on the interior and provides good stats all the way around. The odd man out in this seems to be Love, but as much as he likes Cleveland, the Cavs are kind of in a bind here. At any rate, Thompson and Nance are the producers up front for Cleveland right now.
Dark Horses:
Khem Birch ($4,700): Birch has an uneventful first couple of starts for the Magic, but he has put up 55.5 DraftKings points over the last two games. Birch has been more aggressive on the board and is more conscious of fouls, so Orlando has let him remain in the game. Bamba is likely better off the bench, but if Birch continues playing like he is, Bamba’s upside is in even more jeopardy.
Jaxson Hayes ($4,400): Hayes isn’t a huge part of this offense nor is he an elite rebounder, so the upside is capped. However, he’s still starting in place of Favors and is ahead of Okafor and Melli. Hayes is a freakish athlete for his size, which is why everyone chases the upside, but he is one of the more raw players in the league.
Mo Bamba ($4,300): The strong play of Birch has limited Bamba to just 17 minutes in each of the last two games. Against Washington it may not matter. Mo could have 30 DraftKings points in 17 minutes against this team.
