If you’re looking to make a big splash in round 1 of the fantasy football playoffs, check out these eight players on the waiver wire.

We’re here. The fantasy football regular season is over and the playoffs are here. If you made it, congratulations, you’re one step closer to winning the championship. If not, better luck next year but you still have the consolation bracket to compete in.

After a surprising week 13, there are plenty of players worth adding for the first round of the playoffs. But there are a couple to stay away from. Knowing which players to add will make for a successful round 1 of the playoffs.

David Blough, Patrick Laird, Russell Gage and Darren Fells all had great games. However, with their current team context and future matchups, they are going to fall back down to Earth and put up mediocre numbers this week.

In this post, I will provide two quarterbacks, two running backs, two wide receivers, a tight end and a defense for owners to add this week. All eight players will be available in more than 50 percent of ESPN leagues.

More from Fantasy Football

Ryan Fitzpatrick

Fitzpatrick has put up some great performances and some stinkers over the last seven games. He has four 20-plus-point games in that span. Fitzpatrick has 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions in those seven games. Things may continue to look good for Fitzpatrick.

He and the Dolphins take on the Jets in week 14. The last time Fitzpatrick faced the Jets, he put up 288 yards and three touchdowns. With the breakout of DeVante Parker finally happening, expect a big game this week.

Ryan Tannehill

After averaging 18.8 fantasy points per game over the last six weeks, Tannehill put up just 13.8 points against the Colts in week 13. With a game coming up against Oakland, he could easily rebound for a 20-point game.

The Raiders rank 29th in fantasy points per game against opposing quarterbacks. With A.J. Brown, Adam Humphries, Derrick Henry and the deep threat of Kalif Raymond, the Titans offense is projected to put up big numbers.

Raheem Mostert

With Matt Breida ruled out for week 13, things were in line for Tevin Coleman to have a big game. Turns out, Mostert was the running back to own for this game. Coleman had just six yards on five carries with a nine-yard reception.

Mostert, on the other hand, had 19 carries for 146 yards and a touchdown. He also had two receptions for nine yards. The 49ers running backs should be back at full strength but I think the 49ers go with the hot hand against the Saints in week 14.

Darwin Thompson

Damien Williams was out for the week 13 game, leaving LeSean McCoy and Darrel Williams as the available running backs. Williams left the game with a hamstring injury, giving Thompson a chance at some carries.

Thompson filled in with 11 carries for 44 yards and a touchdown. McCoy had five carries for 10 yards and a touchdown with three receptions and 20 more yards. With the chance of both Williamses being out again, a timeshare between McCoy and Thompson is likely.

The Patriots defense allowed Duke Johnson to score 20 fantasy points. We may see that again as New England faces another high-powered offense.

James Washington

Washington was the top receiver for the Steelers with JuJu Smith-Schuster ruled out. He seemed to be cleared from the concussion protocol but a knee injury flared up. He will likely be ready for week 14 against the Cardinals.

In his absence, Washington caught four passes for 111 yards and a touchdown. He scored 21.1 points, his highest of the season. The Cardinals’ defense is in the bottom five against opposing wide receivers. Even with Delvin Hodges under center, this team has promise.

Robby Anderson

Sam Darnold‘s streak of 20-point games came to an end in a loss to the then-winless Bengals. Anderson was still able to put up 17.1 points on seven catches and 101 yards. The rest of the Jets receivers combined for 13.9 fantasy points.

The Jets face the Dolphins in week 14. Despite losing in Miami, Alshon Jeffery scored almost 29 points in this game. But, he was the only receiver to score more than 10 points. Anderson will be a solid flex play or even WR3 in deeper leagues for owners in the first round of the playoffs.

Tyler Higbee

The Rams offense showed up in week 13. Robert Woods, Todd Gurley, Cooper Kupp and Higbee all scored over 18 fantasy points. It did help that Gerald Everett was ruled out and the Cardinals are the worst defense against tight ends.

If Everett is ruled out again for week 14, Higbee could be in line for another big week against the Seahawks. Seattle ranks 29th against tight ends. While there are a lot of mouths to feed in LA, Higbee should be featured a lot.

Chiefs D/ST

The Chiefs defense had their second-best performance in week 13. They allowed just nine points to the Raiders offense while racking up two sacks, two interceptions, a blocked kick, a fumble recovery and a touchdown.

In what will be a playoff-impacting game, Kansas City travels east to face the Patriots. A Patriots team that was held to nine points after three quarters. A Patriots offense that saw seven different players catch a pass but only two scored a touchdown.

Tom Brady doesn’t turn the ball over, only six interceptions this season, but he also isn’t scoring a lot, just 18 touchdowns. The running game has been questionable with Sony Michel and James White. If the Chiefs defense can focus on the two or three key players, they should have another big game.
