For the past eight seasons, Serie A has been dominated by Juventus. This season, Inter Milan are trying to end Juventus’ title run. Inter enter the weekend in first place, one point ahead of Juventus. On Friday, Inter host Roma at the San Siro. Roma are fighting for a spot in the top four but face stiff competitions in a very competitive Serie A.
When Antonio Conte was hired, the expectation was that he would turn the club into title contenders. Immediately, Conte has helped transform Inter into one of the two best clubs in Italy. The Black and Blues have won 12 of 14 games this season. After years of chasing Romelu Lukaku, Conte finally signed the Belgian striker. Lukaku has been great in his first season with Inter, scoring 10 goals and forming a strong partnership with Lautaro Martinez who has eight goals. The duo will play a key role on Friday if Inter are going to pick up all three points and remaining ahead of Juventus in the table.
Roma have won five of their last six games to move up the table. Manager Paulo Fonseca has his team played very well despite having to deal with injuries to several key midfielders this season. Lorenzo Pellegrini has been excellent this season and leads the club with six assists. Despite being 33 years old, Edin Dzeko is still an impact player in Serie A. Dzeko leads Roma with six goals this season.
