NBA DFS: Studs, scrubs, and duds December 6
Duds
Wendell Carter Jr (vs GS – $6,600 on DK; $8,000 on FD): As bad as the Warriors are, they are good against the position. Guards usually get the better of the Warriors, which is why LaVine and Satoransky are on the list but there is reason to avoid Carter Jr. It’s never a bad idea against this matchup, but the price is certainly too high on FD.
Blake Griffin (vs IND – $6,700 on DK; $7,200 on FD): Griffin has been fairly consistent and the lowered salary certainly helps. The problem is that it’s a tough matchup and even if he gives you around value, you would want a little more or at least someone who could possibly give you more. You’re probably just not getting that from Griffin in this one.
Nikola Jokic (at BOS – $8,000 on DK; $8,500 on FD): Jokic has an easy night against the Knicks but it’s still a back-to-back and he hadn’t been playing well against good competition. The Celtics are certainly good competition. Until Jokic can prove consistency, he’s tough take on a night like this.
Damian Lillard (vs LAL – $8,500 on DK; $9,400 on FD): Lillard and the Blazers have beaten up on some bad teams as of late, but when they’ve faced a good team, they didn’t fare so well. The Lakers are arguably the best team in the league. So it’s tough to trust Lillard in this matchup. The ceiling is high but there is more guaranteed value against better matchups.
Giannis Antetokounmpo (vs LAC – $11,300 on DK; $12,300 on FD): As always, it’s never a bad idea to take Giannis because he is that good. The issue is that it’s a tough matchup and I could easily see someone like LeBron or Towns (if he plays) outscoring Giannis at a lesser salary. Because of that, I recommend taking a different star on Friday for lesser money and potentially the same output. Or taking some guaranteed value with Giannis.
