Joe Burrow is having such a great year with the LSU Tigers that’s he’s completing passes to himself in the SEC Championship vs. the Georgia Bulldogs.
He’s just padding his Heisman stats at this point.
It’s been a great year thus far for Joe Burrow and the LSU Tigers. They won the SEC West division crown for the first time since 2011. As they take on the SEC East winner in the Georgia Bulldogs in the 2019 SEC Championship on Saturday, LSU can feel great in knowing that it will make the College Football Playoff, regardless of how this title bout shakes out vs. the Dawgs.
A big reason for this is LSU is the No. 2 team in the land and Burrow is playing like the Heisman Trophy frontrunner he is. He has already been the most prolific passer in any given season for the Bayou Bengals. If Burrow doesn’t win the Heisman Trophy, something went horribly, horribly wrong.
Going up against the best defense he’s faced all year, Burrow had a pass of his batted down by a Georgia defender. Having great poise and awareness, Burrow caught the batted pass of his and then converted it into a first down via a 16-yard scamper. He would then connect on a 45th touchdown strike on the season to set an SEC record on that LSU offensive drive.

It’s been that kind of year for Burrow and the Bayou Bengals. He’s gone from a graduate transfer quarterback with a fourth-round pedigree to being the Heisman Trophy favorite and the likely No. 1 overall pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Burrow has thrived under new LSU passing game coordinator Joe Brady this season. Together, they have set the college football world on fire. With this being the biggest game of Burrow’s career, he will need to play up to his lofty standard set this season to ensure LSU will win its first SEC Championship since 2011. The last time it happened, it came against the same Georgia team.
