DraftKings NBA Shooting Guards:
Best Bets:
James Harden ($12,000): The Kings aren’t as miserable defending off the ball as they used to be, but they still aren’t that good either. In terms of volume, no one comes close to taking as many shots as Harden. Westbrook hasn’t taken that away from Harden’s game. Harden is going to shoot 25 shots and 25 free throws at the least. It’s boring basketball, but it means huge DFS upside.
Devin Booker (8,500): Booker lit up the Timberwolves the first time around for 65 DraftKings points. He’s had a couple of big games against the Pelicans and Rockets, so I wouldn’t be shocked to see Booker around 60 again tonight. We can only use Booker when the matchup is right, but it certainly is here.
Honorable Mention:
Donovan Mitchell ($7,400): Mitchell had one of his best games of the season against the Thunder in the first meeting, racking up 55 DraftKings points in 36 minutes. There is enough under both Harden and Westbrook to fade both of them tonight and get enough from the lower price. It will all be about the middle tier. I would bet that no one in the top ten finishers has Harden or Westbrook. They should have one of Mitchell or Booker.
Derrick Rose ($5,600): This is a great matchup for Rose. As much as I’ve ragged on the Wizards defense and lack thereof, the Pelicans have been even worse against guards. At this point in his career, Rose is mostly a shooter. That is precisely what makes him so dangerous here. I’m a big fan of Rose for this price.
Alec Burks ($5,500): Burks is about the only consistent scorer on this team right now. Russell is still playing limited minutes, and why not? This team is playing for ping pong balls, not playoffs. This is an open audition for next year, and so far Burks seems to be a solid piece. You’re getting around 25-30 DraftKings points out of Burks. He’s a great play in cash games.
Dark Horses:
Ben McLemore ($5,300): McLemore played so well with House out that he has carved out a larger role even with the team at full strength. Surprisingly enough, McLemore still gets double digit shots on a team with Harden and Westbrook, but he makes a lot more than they do. That gives him good value at his price, and a very nice floor. McLemore has at least 32 DraftKings points in three of the last four games.
Donte DiVincenzo ($4,400): DiVincenzo played so well with Middleton out that he has carved out a nice role for himself even with Middleton back. There’s not a lot of upside here, especially against Orlando, but DiVincenzo has a high floor. That’s gold for a value pick. He hasn’t been under 18 DraftKings points in the last dozen games.
