WWE Friday Night Smackdown Power Rankings: Week of Dec. 9
By Serena Burks
WWE Friday Night Smackdown’s weekly power rankings. We rank the top superstars in each division.
Every week we rank the top superstars on WWE’s Friday Night Smackdown by division. This week sees a shakeup in the tag team division with the elimination of Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler from the list, Alexa Bliss moves up with her victory and the men’s division is all over the place. Read on to see who landed where in this week’s power rankings.
Tag Team Division
- The New Day – The Smackdown Tag Team Champions sat at the commentary table during the Fatal 4-way that decided their next opponents for a title defense. They’re still the champs, so they’re still number one.
- The Revival – As winners of the Fatal 4-way, Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson will be the next to face The New Day for a title opportunity. They move up due to their victory.
- Mustafa Ali & Shorty G – It’s their first time on this list, and they’re third because of their second-place finish in the tag team Fatal 4-way.
- Heavy Machinery – While probably a better team than Ali and Shorty G, Otis and Tucker were eliminated before the smaller duo in the match, so they fall behind them in the rankings.
- Lucha House Party – The first to be eliminated in the Fatal 4-way, Lucha House Party hangs out in the fifth spot on the power rankings.
Women’s Division
- Bayley – The Smackdown Women’s Champion retains her top spot simply because she’s the champ. She showed up to give Sasha the assist after Lacey Evans’ match but hasn’t had a match of her own in a few weeks.
- Alexa Bliss – After having her eyelashes pulled off by Mandy Rose, Bliss was angered into an aggressiveness we haven’t seen for a while. She moves up with the win.
- Lacey Evans – Evans fought a local competitor and was then attacked by Sasha Banks and Bayley due to Evans’ previous attack on the pair. She also managed to scare Banks into rolling out of the ring to avoid the Women’s Right.
- Mandy Rose – Rose didn’t win her match, but she appeared in the ring and showed us what she’s got. It’s going to take more than tugging on the eyelashes to keep a competitor like Bliss down, but Rose gets an A for effort.
- Sasha Banks – She didn’t have her own match, but she went after Lacey Evans once Evans got her victory. She rolled out of the ring, but her BFF showed up to help her down the Sassy Southern Belle.
- Nikki Cross – No match for the untamed Cross this week, but she hits the sixth spot this week.
- Sonya Deville – Much like Cross, she didn’t have a match this week, so she falls on the list.
- Dana Brooke – She didn’t fight, per se, but she did stand tall over a downed Drake Maverick who was taken out by Elias. Brooke is staying in the spotlight with her new relationship with Dave Batista.
- Carmella – ‘Mella falls for not having a match but stays on the list due to her talent.
- Tamina – Someday we’ll get to see Tamina in the ring again. She hasn’t had a match since returning from injury, and the women’s division desperately needs her to show back up.
Men’s Division
- The Fiend, Bray Wyatt – The Fiend appears to have a new target since supposedly taking out Daniel Bryan. The Miz may think he can handle The Fiend, but only time will tell if he actually can.
- Roman Reigns – Roman defeated Dolph Ziggler in a singles match which was the main event. He would be attacked afterward, but he won, so he retains his second spot.
- Shinsuke Nakamura – While he didn’t appear in the ring on Friday, Nakamura is still the Intercontinental Champion. As of right now, there’s no one else who deserves to be ranked above him.
- Dolph Ziggler – Ziggler lost his match to Roman Reigns, but then got an assist from King Corbin to take down the Big Dog. He appears at this spot on the list due to having a match at all.
- King Corbin – Corbin didn’t have a match, but he helped Ziggler take down the Big Dog after Ziggler’s loss. Corbin is still one of the more talented men in the locker room, so he hangs out at five.
- Elias – Man it’s good to have Elias back! He took down Drake Maverick in the ring, although it wasn’t an actual match. He allowed Dana Brooke to get credit for the pin, but he makes the list.
- The Miz – Miz seems to be the new target of The Fiend since Daniel Bryan is MIA. He’s on the list for his sheer bravery in taking on the mind games of Bray Wyatt.
- Braun Strowman – He hasn’t been in the ring for a while, but Braun is as talented as he is large. He makes the list on talent alone.
- Cesaro – The Swiss Cyborg didn’t have a match this week, so he falls to the bottom. But he stays on the power rankings because of his skill.
- Sheamus – Sheamus is back but hasn’t been in the ring yet. Once he gets in there, he’s likely to move up the power rankings, but for now, he stays at 10.
