Atletico Madrid face Lokomotiv Moscow at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Wednesday, Dec. 11. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
The Champions League group stage concludes on Wednesday with Atletico Madrid playing Lokomotiv Moscow at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium. Atletico enter the game second in the group and will punch their ticket to the knockout stage with a victory on Wednesday. Lokomotiv have already been eliminated from the tournament but could play the role of spoiler.
Since the start of November, Atletico have struggled. In their seven games between La Liga and the Champions League, Atletico have won only once and have three draws and three losses. If Atletico want to ensure their spot in the Champions League knockout stage, they will have to win on Wednesday. The problem for Diego Simeone’s team has been their lack of goal scoring. In their 21 games between La Liga and Champions League, Madrid have scored only 22 goals. Alvaro Morata leads the club with seven goals and will start upfront with Joao Felix.
Lokomotiv Moscow got off to a promising start in the Champions League, beating Bayer Leverkusen in Germany in their first game. Unfortunately, that was the peak for Lokomotiv. The Russian club lost their next four Champions League games and were eliminated from European competitions. While Lokomotiv cannot advance, they can prevent Atletico from advancing. If Lokomotiv can beat Atletico and Bayer Leverkusen beats Juventus, Atletico will finish third in the group.
