The Champions League round of 16 draw takes place on Monday, Dec. 16. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
Following the Champions League group stage, the 16 remaining teams will find out who they will play in the round of 16. The eight group winners will be seeded and host the second leg match. The teams that did not win their group are in the second pot and are considered unseeded.
Teams cannot be drawn against each other if they are from the same country or if they were in the same group. For example, Paris Saint-Germain cannot be drawn against Lyon or Real Madrid but could be drawn against any of the other six teams.
The eight teams that won their group were PSG, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Juventus, Liverpool, Barcelona, RB Leipzig, and Valencia. The unseeded teams are Real Madrid, Tottenham, Atalanta, Atletico Madrid, Napoli, Borussia Dortmund, Lyon, and Chelsea.
For the first time in Champions League history, all 16 teams that advanced out of the group stage are from one of the big five European leagues. Spain and England each have four teams, the most remaining from any country. While Italy and Germany have three clubs representing in the knockout stage. France has the fewest teams remaining, with only two clubs in the round of 16.
