5. Spencer Rattler, Oklahoma QB

  • 2019 Stats: 6-8, 73 yards, one TD

At this point, playing quarterback for Oklahoma gives you a great shot at becoming a Heisman finalist. Two winners (Mayfield, Murray), along with an invitation this season for Jalen Hurts has head coach Lincoln Riley looking like a legit quarterback whisper. His ability to adapt his scheme to whoever is under center is almost unrivaled, so until someone doesn’t succeed, you have to think Oklahoma will be represented.

Spencer Rattler appears to be the next player up with Hurts leaving for the NFL, and he has a great chance to continue the Sooner recent success in getting New York. Rattler was the No. 11 overall player in the 2019 class and the top quarterback, so there is undeniable talent.

He will need to win the job in the offseason as it will likely be a battle between himself and redshirt-freshman Tanner Mordecai, but Rattler’s pedigree coming out of college will give him a slight head start.

Rattler is a member of the 2019 recruiting class who will need to step up for Oklahoma if they want to keep their hold on the Big 12. Five-star recruits like Jadon Haselwood and Theo Wease Jr. will have to replace CeeDee Lamb’s production, and if they do, Rattler and the offense will continue to put up points.  Which means he could be in for a massive first-year as a starter.
