Top star players, best value picks, and guys you should stay a way from on December 17 in NBA DFS on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Welcome to Studs, Scrubs, and Duds; FanSided’s NBA DFS lineup helper.

Here’s what’s on the slate for tonight:

7 p.m. ET: Sacramento at Charlotte, LA Lakers at Indiana
7:30 p.m. ET: Atlanta at New York
8 p.m. ET: Brooklyn at New Orleans
9 p.m. ET: Orlando at Utah
10:30 p.m. ET: Phoenix at LA Clippers

How this works:

Studs: Top high salary picks that you can build your lineup around.
Scrubs: Value players looking for a big night or consistent options to help fill out your lineup.
Duds: Players to avoid given their high salary and/or poor matchup.

Five players are picked on each slide, positions are not applicable, and both DraftKings and FanDuel salaries are listed.

Studs

Trae Young (at NY – $9,900 on DK; $10,000 on FD): The Knicks are better against the position than you may think. But they are still the Knicks. And Trae Young always has triple double potential. We haven’t seen him flash a 10+ points over value ceiling in a bit, but this would certainly be the matchup to do it if he’s going to make it happen. He should be in for a big game and don’t rule out the triple double.

Buddy Hield (MATCHUP – $7,200 on DK; $7,700 on FD): I also like Devonte’ Graham in this game. There’s some good value on both teams as neither team has that high salary superstar but there should be plenty of offense given how these two teams typically like to play. It’s a great matchup for Hield and he should be able to walk away with a big scoring output given the level of defense in this one.

Kawhi Leonard (vs PHO – $9,400 on DK; $10,000 on FD): Much like the Knicks, the Suns are better against the position than you may think. But they’re also not a very good team while the Clippers are one of the top teams in the league. Kawhi is coming off a big game, but splitting reps so to speak with George does hurt him a bit. I think he punishes Phoenix in this one.

Jrue Holiday (vs BKN – $7,700 on DK; $8,300 on FD): The Nets are good against the position but but the scoring should be up in this game. Holiday has been a blue player or better in the last week or so and I can’t see his run coming to an end in this game. I like him more than Ingram as he’s at a lower salary and has just as much potential with his overall game. If nothing else, he’s going to get you value, but expect plenty more from him in this game.

Spencer Dinwiddie (MATCHUP – $7,500 on DK; $8,300 on FD): And as much as I like Holiday, I love Dinwiddie. He has rarely disappointed since Kyrie has been out of the lineup and now he gets a team that plainest to no defense. There should be one an easy night at the office for Dinwiddie as he has a monster scoring game while also chipping in with assists and maybe a rebound of two. Expect him to be a top 5 scorer on the night given the matchup.
