Sell high on Zion Williamson

I hear you:

“I waited this long. What’s a few more weeks?”

“He is going to kill it when he comes back.”

“He is so exciting!”

Zion is a generational talent. But he also has a history of injuries dating back to high school. The phenom weighs about 285lbs – and although he is crazy athletic, and a lot of it is muscle – I don’t see him being able to sustain that weight injury free in the NBA.

You combine that with the Pelicans abysmal record (7-23 at the time of this writing), the rumours that they are looking to trade away Jrue Holiday, and the fact that Zion won’t be playing back to backs, and probably will be on a minutes limit…What’s the incentive for New Orleans to play him a lot this season? There really isn’t much apart from some ticket sales, but they are smarter than that and have an eye to the long term success of the organization.

I would be waiting for the hype to grow relating to Zion making excellent progress in his rehab and try to trade him when he is a week or two away from making his debut.

Depending on your team build, I think I would rather have guys like Myles Turner, Robert Covington, Al Horford, Bam Adebayo (good luck),  Kyle Lowry, or Tobias Harris to name a few. That’s how nervous I am.
