Newcastle United vs. Crystal Palace live stream: Watch Premier League online
By Adam Stocker
Newcastle face Crystal Palace at St. James’ Park on Saturday, Dec. 21. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
The middle of the Premier League table is heavily congested with six points separating fifth place and 13th place. On Saturday, Newcastle host Crystal Palace at St. James’ Park. The Magpies are 11th in the table with 22 points. The Eagles are ninth with 23 points.
Newcastle have seven points in their last five games but are coming off of a 1-0 loss to Burnley. The Magpies have been significantly better at St. James’ Park than they have in their away games. Newcastle have lost only one home game this season, picking up 13 points in eight games.
Manager Steve Bruce will try to improve his club’s home record on Saturday but will have to do it with several of his midfielders injured. Jonjo Shelvey leads Newcastle with five goals but will likely miss Saturday’s game with a calf injury. The Magpies need Joelinton to be significantly better. Joelinton was Newcastle’s record signing in the summer from Hoffenheim. However, the Brazilian striker has been very disappointing this season, scoring only one goal.
Crystal Palace have been very streaky this season. The Eagles picked up 14 points in their first eight games but only picked up one point over their following five games. Palace have righted the ship over their last four games, picking up eight points. The Eagles have been excellent defensively, allowing only 19 goals, the fourth-fewest in the Premier League. While Palace are very good defensively, they are awful in the attacking half. Only last-place Watford have scored fewer goals than Crystal Palace have this season. Jordan Ayew and Wilfrid Zaha have combined to score seven of Palace’s 15 goals this season. If one of Ayew or Zaha can score on Saturday, there is a good chance that Palace will be able to steal points from Newcastle.
