You waited until the last possible minute to send out a package, or maybe your waiting for one from a special friend, but will it get there on time?
Neither rain nor sleet nor snow will slow down the United States mail service. At least that’s what they say, but layoffs, downsizing and late deliveries are all things that can happen. So while you’re waiting for your gift to be delivered, or maybe you’re hoping your Great Aunt Beatrice gets her Christmas card on time, it’s always good to know when the mail is actually moving and when you have to make the obligatory phone call to someone telling them their package is going to be late.
To help you out, the answer to the question is yes. The mail does get delivered on Christmas Eve as usual. That’s not to say that you’ll get your package as you hoped and expected, nor is it a sign that your packages shipped through other means will get to where it’s going in time but the United States mail service does, in fact, work on Christmas eve.
The mail comes on most holidays, just not federal ones. What’s a federal holiday in which mail might not be delivered? Well, luckily there’s a link for that. Feel free to click here and save the link, as the days the mail doesn’t come are largely the same each and every year. This way you don’t get confused come May 25 when you’re waiting for your next shipment of everlasting gobstoppers to come in the mail and they’re still not there.
Now you know why because May 25 is Memorial Day. At least for next year. Also, do your postal service a simple duty and make sure to shovel your steps and clear a walkway for them through to their house so they don’t need to trudge through the snow.
