DraftKings college football wide receiver picks December 28:

Top Tier:

There are only two top options. It comes down to Ja’Marr Chase and CeeDee Lamb. I prefer Lamb simply because he has less around him. Chase has to share targets among no less than two other very talented receivers. Lamb is easily Oklahoma’s biggest threat outside of Hurts. If the Alabama game taught us anything, LSU can’t keep track of him the whole game.

Chase Claypool racked up 130.1 DraftKings points over the last five games of the season. He and Book got on the same page after the Michigan game and never looked back. Iowa State is solid in coverage, but Claypool is plenty good enough to get open.

It was Justin Jefferson that lit up Georgia, and I kind of have the feeling it could be the same deal against Oklahoma. Georgia locked down Chase, but they had no answers left for Jefferson. Oklahoma will try to do the same to Chase with Parnell Motley, but after that, they don’t have much left to control Jefferson.

Middle Tier:

DraftKings is sure making it tough on us here. Clemson’s players are very low priced against the stout Ohio State defense. I really like Tee Higgins at this low of a price. He has at least 28 DraftKings points in three straight games. Justyn Ross was the playoff hero last season. He’s worth a look in this price range too, but I do plan on limiting my exposure to Clemson.

Damonte Coxie had double digit DraftKings points in all but the Tulsa game this year. He closed very strong with at least 25 DraftKings points in four of the last five games. Penn State’s run defense is much better than the pass defense, so I think White and Coxie will have to have strong games to pull this out.

Cole Kmet was the favorite red zone target of Book for the last six weeks of the season or so. He’s a strong play against Iowa State. The issue I have is that the Irish don’t throw to him much when not in the red zone. You are banking on Notre Dame spending some quality time inside the 20 if looking at Kmet. Charlie Kolar is in the same boat on the other side.

Bargain Shoppers:

Iowa State spreads the ball out a lot among their receivers, and they are all about the same price. Save yourself the headache and just go with Antonio Gibson. Memphis has been using Gibson for double duty lately. He has 13 receptions and 22 carries over the last four games. In fact, Gibson has a rushing touchdown in each of the last three games. And he’s cheap. Soooo cheap.

If you are looking for another dart, Notre Dame used Braden Lenzy in a few trick plays out of the backfield in the last three games. He turned in three straight games of double digit DraftKings points pulling double duty late in teh year. However, Lenzy doesn’t see a lot of targets, so this is kind of an all or nothing thing.
