Greg Roman

Greg Roman is the most popular coordinator name in the NFL, and there’s good reason for that. The Baltimore Ravens offense is unlike anything we’ve seen. He turned Lamar Jackson into an MVP quarterback. He took an offense that, outside of Jackson, has the Saints former backup running back, a rookie wide receiver who dealt with injuries and a tight end who many didn’t expect to be anything special.

Of course, that’s simplifying it to the nth degree. Just look at what Roman did, however. He made a scheme that completely confused Bill Belichick. The Pittsburgh Steelers had the fourth-best defense in the league, and the Ravens backups put 28 points on them in Week 17. They also beat the defenses of the 49ers and Bills, meaning they beat up on every team in the top five of total defense except one, the Ravens themselves.

Roman is going to get the best job that’s available, and from a talent perspective that could be the Browns. He did what he did with Jackson, Mark Ingram, Hollywood Brown and Mark Andrews. Imagine what he could do with Mayfield, Chubb, Beckham and Landry.

Beckham just had his first season that lasted more than four games where he failed to record 1,000-yard receiving. If the Browns are going to make the next step, they need to unlock the old Odell. Roman is likely the best possible guy to do that. On top of that, his ever-changing schemes will keep all these personalities engaged.
