2. Jason Garrett

As of Monday morning, Garrett has not yet been fired by the Dallas Cowboys. He went on the radio to say he’ll be meeting with players, then the Jones’ family. A season that started with a level of Super Bowl aspirations or expectations that became 8-8 and no playoffs seemed to seal Garrett’s fate, but the move has not been made yet.

As it seemed inevitable Garrett would be out in Dallas whenever the team’s season ended, the Giants emerged as a possible landing spot for him. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport pointed to New York’s interest in Garrett dating back years.

"If the Giants move on from Shurmur and the Cowboys and Garrett were to part ways, my understanding is the Giants have emerged as a real and legitimate potential landing spot for Garrett, which would be his preferred destination if he can’t stick with the Cowboys. “Back in 2014, the Giants were trying to decide if they should fire Tom Coughlin. They would have fired Coughlin if they could have gotten Garrett. Instead he signed an extension (with the Cowboys)."

As uninspired a hire as it would be for most (if not all) Giants’ fans, and anyone else who pays attention to such things, Garrett ultimately landing in New York can’t be ruled out. Assuming the Cowboys do fire him, of course.
