No. 3: 2013 Florida State Seminoles

Jimbo Fisher had everything he needed to win a national title in 2013, getting Florida State back on the map. From a Heisman Trophy winner at quarterback to a defense loaded with NFL type talent, there were plenty of stars playing for the Seminoles during the 2013 season and that’s a huge reason why few teams were even able to challenge FSU that year.

The Seminoles had a trio of running backs who combined for over 2,300 yards and 33 rushing touchdowns, two receivers who caught 21 touchdowns and had just under 2,000 receiving yards and a tight end with 557 receiving yards and 7 touchdown catches.

All of that helped Jameis Winston win his Heisman and the defense that held teams to around 281 total yards per game is what helped Fisher win his national title.

The Seminoles had no issue winning the ACC Championship as no other teams in the conference were remotely talented enough to even challenge FSU that year. And then, in the final BCS Championship Game, FSU was able to defeat an Auburn Tigers team that seemed like a “team of destiny” that always found a way to pull off a miracle.

The Tigers were a very good team with many great moments. If the 2013 national title game had gone in Auburn’s favor, both teams involved in that contest may have been on this list. But FSU was simply too much for Auburn to handle that season.
