Top star players, best value picks, and guys you should stay away from on January 2 in NBA DFS on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Welcome to Studs, Scrubs, and Duds; FanSided’s NBA DFS lineup helper.

Here’s what’s on the slate for tonight:

7 p.m. ET: Charlotte at Cleveland, Denver at Indiana
7:30 p.m. ET: Toronto at Miami
8 p.m. ET: Utah at Chicago, Golden State at Minnesota
8:30 p.m. ET: Brooklyn at Dallas, Oklahoma City at San Antonio
10 p.m. ET: Memphis at Sacramento
10 p.m. ET: Detroit at LA Clippers

How this works:

Studs: Top high salary picks that you can build your lineup around.
Scrubs: Value players looking for a big night or consistent options to help fill out your lineup.
Duds: Players to avoid given their high salary and/or poor matchup.

Five players are picked on each slide, positions are not applicable, and both DraftKings and FanDuel salaries are listed.

Studs

LaMarcus Aldridge (vs OKC – $7,600 on DK; $8,300 on FD): Aldridge has never missed a shot against the Thunder. It doesn’t matter who they put on him or throw at him, he never seems to miss his turnaround jumper in the post when he’s playing the Thunder. So, until I see him miss, I will continue to take him because he abuses this team. He’s been playing well as of late too, which gives me even more confidence in him.

Paul George (vs DET – $8,800 on DK; $8,000 on FD): George flirted with a triple double in his last outing and he can certainly do it again against a great matchup in the Pistons. This feels like another game where Kawhi sits back a bit because there is no one-on-one matchup that makes him feel emotions. That will allow George to run the show a bit, leading to another strong outing.

Devonte’ Graham (at CLE – $8,200 on DK; $7,700 on FD): Graham has cooled off just a tad but don’t worry about that on Thursday. He’s going up against the Cavaliers, who are weak against the position and just weak overall. Graham will bounce back with a strong performance where he scoring numbers will be there and he’ll be back to picking up plenty of assists.

Richaun Holmes (vs MEM – $7,100 on DK; $6,700 on FD): The Grizzlies are slightly below average at the position and Holmes has gotten plenty of minutes and opportunities over the past few weeks. He did very well against the Grizzlies in a matchup earlier this season and that was with limited minutes. With the extra minutes in this game and the way he’s been playing, he’ll definitely be nicely over value.

Luka Doncic (vs BKN – $12,000 on DK; $10,800 on FD): The Nets are very weak against the position and Luka is Luka. It doesn’t matter if Porzingis plays in this one. Porzingis being there will open up the floor more for him but Porzingis being out will give him more opportunities. Either way, Luka is going to come up with a big game and possibly pick up a triple double given the opponent.
