The TaxSlayer Gator Bowl presents the FanDuel/DFS community with a football game that could be a high scoring affair! Let’s look at this game from a fantasy football perspective!

Before I discuss my FanDuel player selections for the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl let’s briefly review the rules for the single game contest.

The rules for the FanDuel single game contest are rather simple. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your FanDuel MVP. The MVP accumulates 1.5 times the standard FanDuel points value.

The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is highly important that you select the correct player for your FanDuel lineup if you hope to win a single game contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the single game contest I recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.

Let’s shift our focus to what I love doing the most! Here are my FanDuel player selections for the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl!

MVP-Peyton Ramsey $16,000

Why am I going with Hoosiers quarterback Peyton Ramsey as my MVP? Well, quite simply the Indiana Hoosiers passing offense has been outstanding this season. Let me provide some clear data to support my previous statement. The Hoosiers are currently the 14th ranked team in the FBS in average passing yards a game (309).

Additionally, I like the fact that many football fans and pundits believe that Thursday night’s game will feature a high number of points. As of this writing, the Action Network notes that the over/under for the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl is 55. I think a game script that leads to a high number of points in the Gator Bowl is a good thing for Indiana quarterback Peyton Ramsey from a fantasy football perspective.

Let’s take a quick look at how well Ramsey has performed as a fantasy quarterback recently. In the Hoosiers last three games, Ramsey has averaged a very impressive 29.2 FanDuel points a game.

Flex Plays

Jarrett Guarantano $12,500

The Tennessee Volunteers started the 2019 season with only one win in the team’s first five games.  During that stretch, the Volunteers looked like a team that may not win another game this season. However, the Volunteers appeared to find something as a football team and finished the season by winning six out of seven games to end the season.

One of the primary reasons that Tennessee was able to get hot and end the season on a high note was quarterback Jarrett Guarantano. In the Volunteers last three games, Guarantano had 650 passing yards and five passing touchdowns. I like Jarrett’s chances to perform at a high level in the Gator Bowl on Thursday night.

Marquez Callaway $12,000

Tennessee wide receiver Marquez Callaway has played rather well recently. In his last three games, Callaway had 11 receptions, 232 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns. I think Indiana may give up a few big plays in this football game. Having stated that, I would not be at all surprised if Callaway had one of those big plays.

Eric Gray $10,500

Tennessee running back Eric Gray played outstanding in the Volunteers last game of the season. In Tennessee’s win over Vanderbilt, Gray had 246 rushing yards and three touchdowns. I like Gray’s chances to continue his outstanding play in the Gator Bowl.

Ty Fryfogle $8,000

I am stacking my FanDuel MVP with one of his favorite targets, Indiana wide receiver Ty Fryfogle.  I like the fact that Fryfogle has shown that he can play quality football versus a difficult opponent. An example of Ty’s ability to step up versus a tough opponent can be seen in his play in the Hoosiers loss to Penn State earlier this season. In the Hoosiers game versus Penn State in November, Fryfogle had 131 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown.
