DraftKings NBA picks January 5: Ayton of bricks

It’s a lighter day in the NBA today with five games. The Clippers and Knicks start early, so that one is only available on the DraftKings NBA showdown slate this afternoon. The other four games make up the DraftKings NBA main slate. We start where we always do: the injury report.

Out: Jusuf Nurkic (leg), Luke Kennard (knee), Larry Nance (knee), Jake Layman (toe), Zach Collins (shoulder), Rodney Hood (Achilles), Skal Labissiere (knee), Dylan Windler (leg), Reggie Jackson (back), Khyri Thomas (foot), Frank Kaminsky (knee), Andre Iguodala (personal), DeMarcus Cousins (knee).

Questionable: Karl-Anthony Towns (knee), Andrew Wiggins (illness), Blake Griffin (knee), Jeff Teague (knee), Markieff Morris (foot), Justise Winslow (back), Kevin Porter (personal), Treveon Graham (illness), Dion Waiters (Heat hate him), Noah Vonleh (back), Alex Caruso (calf).

I don’t know why Detroit would even bring Blake back at this point. Ping pong balls are waiting. The Timberwolves are all questionable again. We will have to wait until later in the day for clarification, but I would bet Wiggins plays. The other two? Your guess is as good as mine.

Even though I wasn’t able to get an article up yesterday, I still played a couple of lineups. I hit on Terrence Ross, SGA, Trae, and Doumbouya, but completely whiffed on Marcus Smart and anything Denver.

The takedown score was predictably high at 366.25, which was 24 points ahead of second place. That happens a lot more often in the smaller tournaments. He built with Luka, Ish, Vucevic, Terry Rozier, Jamal Murray and Gay and got big value out or Redick and Johnathan Williams.
