NBA DFS: Studs, scrubs, and duds for January 5, 2020
Scrubs
Collin Sexton (vs MIN – $5,700 on DK; $5,100 on FD): The Cavaliers are on a back to back and aren’t exactly a good basketball team. Sexton has high scoring upside but the vibe is very weird in Cleveland right now with the Kevin Love situation. Neither defense offers much so there should be some offense in this matchup. Cleveland has some good value since they don’t have many high scoring guards or forwards. Sexton has the upside to take the risk.
Jae Crowder (at PHO – $4,500 on DK; $4,700 on FD): Memphis is coming off a big victory against the Clippers. This could completely backfire on them as they might not have much left, but they’re going up against the Suns, which is obviously a great matchup. Crowder is going to get the minutes and opportunities and is at a salary where he’s not going to hurt you.
Ja Morant (at PHO – $6,200 on DK; $6,200 on FD): Morant is coming off a big game in the Clippers matchup but is overall an inconsistent option. But given this matchup and his upside, he’s worth taking as he clips in under the salary line. Morant has the higher upside compared to Crowder, but Crowder is the steadier player due to his lesser salary.
Jarrett Culver (at CLE – $5,300 on DK; $4,500 on FD): Culver wasn’t good against the Warriors but he’s one of the better scorers on a Minnesota team that needs scoring from anyone they can get it from. There should be plenty of offense in this game and we know Culver can fill it up in a hurry. He won’t hurt you at this price but expect much more given the matchup.
