2. Bryan Harsin, Boise State Head Coach

Harsin is a Boise State man through and through to his core, as he was born in the city, played quarterback at the school and has spent the majority of his coaching career there. In six seasons as Boise State head coach now, he has a 64-17 record with at least 10 wins five times. He has maintained the momentum built by Chris Petersen quite well, with no signs of it stopping.

A financial boost aside, it would clearly take a special Power 5 opportunity to get Harsin to leave Boise State. But he’s got a bit of experience recruiting the fertile ground of the Lone Star State, from three seasons as offensive coordinator at Texas and one season as head coach at Arkansas State. So the prospect of having to compete for recruits on that in-state level should not intimidate him, and an effort to retain some of Rhule’s assistants would be an easy move to help that effort.

Harsin is easy to see as eventually doing what Petersen did and head to the Pac-12 when, or if, technically and however optimistically for Boise State fans, he makes a jump to a bigger school (USC? when it comes open?). But he should be high on Baylor’s list of candidates to replace Rhule.
