7. Arizona State

It was an up and down season for Arizona State, they started 3-0, then proceeded to lose four of their next six before their massive upset of Oregon late in the year.  Their win over Florida State in the Sun Bowl certainly wasn’t pretty, but they got the job done and 2020 could the year they become an emerging threat in the Pac-12.

Head coach Herm Edwards is steadily improving the program not only on the field but also in recruiting, so the Sun Devils are on track for future success.

The team will lose a large amount of offensive production to the NFL, so the development of quarterback Jayden Daniels will be crucial. However, they will benefit from the wide-open nature of the Pac 12 south in 2020. Utah was by far the best team this season but are losing a ton of crucial starters too, so there is a competition to be had in the division.

Their schedule starts very nice in 2020 with seven winnable games, so if they can rack up wins, it will give them some room for error in the latter part of the schedule. A split between Utah and USC may be enough to keep them in the conversation late in the year.
