6. Kentucky

In 2018, Kentucky had just its third double-digit win season since 1915. Coming into 2019, head coach Mark Stoops was tasked with trying to keep the momentum going despite losing a ton of talent to the NFL. Things seemed to go off the rails early with the injury to Terry Wilson, but the Wildcats managed to finish the regular season 7-5 and were impressive in their bowl win verse Virginia Tech.

First and foremost, credit to Lynn Bowden Jr., who made a considerable sacrifice for the team and filled in for Wilson at quarterback. He gave the Wildcats at least a tremendous running threat under center.

Now, having weathered the injury storm that hit in 2019, next year could be the year Kentucky returns to double-digit wins given the amount of experience coming back.  According to Josh Moore of Kentucky Sports, the team could return as many as 19 starters in 2020 if you include Wilson. Even if the number turns out not to be that high, they are still going to have a ton back, which gives this team a very high floor.

They probably wish this 2019 schedule was in 2020 because they will have Auburn in week five on top of their regular matchup with Florida and Georgia. However, much like 2018, when they beat Florida, they’ll have to slay on of those SEC elites to get where they want.
