Matchday 22 of the Premier League is almost upon us and there are some great fixtures to look forward to. Here are three bold predictions for all the action.

The hectic holiday period is finally over, but another Premier League weekend has quickly come around, much to the dismay of the managers and players who could definitely do with a break after playing so many games over a short space of time.

The Premier League weekend kicks off on Friday when Sheffield United host a rejuvenated West Ham side at Bramall Lane. Newcastle face a difficult trip away to Wolves before Saturday’s big game sees Tottenham host Liverpool. Here are three bold predictions for all the action.

3. Sebastien Haller scores as West Ham win at Sheffield United

The first game of the Premier League weekend sees West Ham travel to Bramall Lane to face off against Sheffield United. The Hammers were struggling under the guidance of Manuel Pellegrini, which led the club to remove the Chilean and re-appoint David Moyes.

Moyes is not the most progressive manager, but he was successful in his previous stint with West Ham and the owners have decided that the Scotsman deserves another shot in charge. So far he’s got two wins from two, which include a crushing win over Bournemouth and a resilient performance against a spirited Gillingham side in the FA Cup.

Sheffield United will pose a much sterner challenge for Moyes’ side and this will be a truer test of his ability to get something from this squad. Pellegrini seemed like the ideal manager to influence this squad positively considering his previous jobs with Real Madrid and Manchester City.

It didn’t work out for the Chilean, though, as his side lacked consistency despite producing the odd brilliant performance. Premier League managers aren’t granted much time to prove themselves these days, so consistency is key. In previous jobs Moyes has taken his time to get the best out of his sides, but he will need to produce results quicker if he wants to remain in charge of the Hammers.

A win away at Sheffield United would make it three out of three for Moyes and give himself and his squad a huge confidence boost. Sheffield United have been the surprise package this season as the newly-promoted side have feared nobody in their ascent up the league table.

The Blades have been brilliant this season and unless they have an unbelievable meltdown then they will be a Premier League club in the 2020-21 season. What Chris Wilder’s side could do with improving upon is their home form.

That’s an overly critical statement, but United have been phenomenal away from home, only losing to Manchester City and Liverpool. At home they’ve already lost four times this season and two of those losses were at the hands of Southampton and Newcastle — sides that you would fancy them to beat.

That should give confidence to West Ham and they will manage United’s attack well while countering effectively. Sebastien Haller and Pablo Fornals will score as West Ham win this match 2-0.
