It’s an interesting dilemma for a few reasons. Henry has shown a higher ceiling in his career than Waller but has had issues with injuries throughout most of it. Waller had a more consistent season than Henry last year for the Raiders, but he has had his issues with substance abuse for the better part of his career. There is a lot to like about but, both definitely things to be concerned with.
Ultimately, the guys like Waller more down the line than Henry for a few reasons. The first is Waller looks to be part of an offensive philosophy under Raiders’ head coach Jon Gruden that prominently features a tight end. Regardless of if Derek Carr is the long-term solution at quarterback for the Raiders, Waller should be just fine if he can walk the straight and narrow.
As for Henry, how sure are we that he’ll be a Charger in the long-term? What are the Chargers planning to do at the quarterback position to address a declining Philip Rivers? How sure are we that 2020 won’t be the last season Anthony Lynn is the head coach of this Los Angeles professional football team. All of these factors need to be considered regarding Henry.
It would be worthwhile to hang on to both, as Waller tends to be better in PPR leagues on the sheer volume of targets he gets. When healthy, Henry has the talent that can get him into the 10-plus touchdowns a season level. He’s a great player, but one who has struggled throughout his NFL career to stay on the field.
