Top star players, best value picks, and guys you should stay away from on January 15 in NBA DFS on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Welcome to Studs, Scrubs, and Duds; FanSided’s NBA DFS lineup helper.

Here’s what’s on the slate for tonight:

7 p.m. ET: Detroit at Boston, Brooklyn at Philadelphia
7:30 p.m. ET: San Antonio at Miami
8 p.m. ET: Washington at Chicago, Indiana at Minnesota, Toronto at Oklahoma City
9 p.m. ET: Charlotte at Denver
9:30 p.m. ET: Portland at Houston
10 p.m. ET: Dallas at Sacramento
10:30 p.m. ET: Orlando at LA Lakers

How this works:

Studs: Top high salary picks that you can build your lineup around.
Scrubs: Value players looking for a big night or consistent options to help fill out your lineup.
Duds: Players to avoid given their high salary and/or poor matchup.

Five players are picked on each slide, positions are not applicable, and both DraftKings and FanDuel salaries are listed.

Studs

LeBron James (vs ORL – $10,400 on DK; $10,800 on FD): The Magic have a tough defense and that means it’s time for LeBron to take over for the Lakers. He’s down on the price list and could easily end up as the top scorer on the night. If Davis ends up playing, that will help LeBron’s overall line as it takes some pressure off of him. He’ll be a top 3 scorer on the night.

Zach LaVine (vs WAS – $9,300 on DK; $8,300 on FD): LaVine always gets his scoring numbers and now he has a great matchup against the Wizards. This should be an easy night at the office for LaVine as he racks up points and chips in elsewhere. He’ll easily get his value and given the matchup his ceiling is high.

Ben Simmons (vs BKN – $8,700 on DK; $8,500 on FD): It’s a great matchup for the Nets and we know Simmons is a triple double threat. The Nets are also on a back to back which is certainly helpful as well. Without Embiid, Simmons takes on more responsibility and is able to get his numbers easier. I love Simmons on Wednesday.

Clint Capela (vs POR – $8,100 on DK; $7,800 on FD): The Blazers have very little inside presence as Whiteside is more concerned with chasing blocks. And that will get him into trouble against the Rockets drivers, leaving Capela in a great position for easy dump offs or rebounds. He should get a double double and then some in this matchup.

Kemba Walker (vs DET – $7,200 on DK; $6,700 on FD): Tatum might be out, which would certainly help Kemba’s value. Even if Tatum plays, Kemba’s price has drastically reduced and he’s walking into a great matchup against a very poor Pistons squad. Look for Kemba to get things going in this matchup.
