DraftKings NBA picks January 17: Domantas is Lithuanian for dominant

We have one of our lighter Fridays in a while with seven games for our DraftKings NBA tournaments tonight. This slate is pretty loaded though with the Sixers, Hawks, Mavs, Toronto, and Indy on the slate. First, let’s see what we are working with or without.

Out: Joel Embiid (finger), Kristaps Porzingis (knee), Victor Oladipo (knee), Wendell Carter (ankle), Jusuf Nurkic (leg), Zach Collins (shoulder), Mo Wagner (ankle), Rui Hachimura (groin), Otto Porter (foot), Daniel Gafford (thumb), Alex Len (back), Justise Winslow (back), Rudy Gay (illness?), Jeff Teague (traded), Jabari Parker (shoulder), Kevin Porter (knee), Treveon Graham (traded), Allen Crabbe (traded), Garrison Mathews (ankle), Brandon Knight (knee), Dewan Hernandez (ankle), John Wall (Achilles), C.J. Miles (wrist), Abdel Nader (ankle), Chandler Parsons (knee),  Andre Roberson (knee), Ryan Broekhoff (leg), Rodney Hood (Achilles), Skal Labissiere (knee), Andre Iguodala (personal), Bruno Caboclo (knee), Ante Zizic (illness), Dylan Windler (leg).

Questionable: Karl-Anthony Towns (knee), Fred VanVleet (hamstring),  Steven Adams (knee), Nerlens Noel (ankle), Tyler Herro (knee), Jae Crowder (hip), Chandler Hutchison (shoulder), Jake Layman (toe).

I still wont use Towns for the price even if they clear him for 35 minutes. He’s going to be rusty after nearly a month off. My guess is he sits anyway, so we shouldn’t have to worry about it. I am guessing that VanVleet sits tonight and starts tomorrow. They don’t need him against the Wizards. There is a lot to watch, but I will update it starting early in the afternoon.

Two overtime games and a small slate led to massive point scores tonight. I liked the slate, so I went heavy with eight lineups and several turbo and late as well. Only three of them failed to hit 300, yet only one cashed and it took 360 to do it. There’s no sense covering who I used because most of you had the same players if the ownership numbers were right. The only place I gained  some separation was with Ingram and Mitchell.

dudemanpa put up the highest score I’ve ever seen with a ridiculous 444 last night. How ridiculous was it? He was 20.75 points ahead of second place! He built with Rubio, Kemba, Mitchell, Ingram, and Ayton and got absurd value out of Porter, Plumlee, and Theis. The only one of these I had no exposure to was Rubio. I just didn’t have enough of them in the same lineup.

Just because you don’t see someone on here doesn’t mean they aren’t a good play. I only have so much room, and I’m not going anyone a favor if I recommend more than half of the players at a position. If you have a feeling about someone, by all means, follow that. I mostly follow numbers and trends.
