DraftKings NBA picks January 18: Drummond beats on the Hawks
By Mike Marteny
DraftKings NBA Power Forwards:
Best Bets:
John Collins ($8,200): Collins is dangerous when priced this high because he is clearly second fiddle on this team. That wasn’t the case early in the season and late last year. Collins and Trae were sharing duties. Now Young takes over and Collins gets what’s left. It’s usually enough for him to hit value, but he doesn’t have much for upside at this point.
Kevin Love ($7,800): Not only has Markkanen been mostly a disaster on offense, but the Bulls have allowed the most fantasy points to power forwards in the league. That’s where Markkanen spends most of his time. Love dominated the slumping Markkanen for 53.5 DraftKings points in the first meeting. I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of a repeat performance.
Julius Randle ($7,700): Randle wont have to tangle with Horford like he did the first couple of times. Randle held his own against Horford. He could be in for a big game against the likes of Mike Scott or Harris. Randle’s breakout has gone mostly unnoticed because of what Ingram is doing in New Orleans and because few care about the Knicks, but Randle is plenty good enough to throw out there.
Honorable Mention:
Robert Covington ($6,100): I find it oddly comforting that Covington still came up with another strong performance even with Towns back. It was also a night against a difficult opponent in a game in which Covington didn’t shoot particularly well. I think the production will still be there even with Towns back. Covington is solid for the price, though he doesn’t have a ton of upside.
Marcus Morris ($5,600): Beating up on a team once can be a fluke. It usually isn’t if it happens twice in two meetings. The Sixers must have said something about Morris’s mother or something because he has unleashed 85.5 DraftKings points on them in the two meetings. That’s a lot of production for this price.
Dark Horses:
Sekou Doumbouya ($5,000): Doumbouya has answered the call since Blake has been ruled out indefinitely. He has 63 DraftKings points over the last two games. One of those was against a good Boston defense. What’s he going to do to Atlanta?
Markieff Morris ($4,100): Detroit hasn’t fully handed the reins to Sekou just yet. Morris is still playing about half the game himself and he is putting up some solid numbers as well. Many rode Spurs last night against the Hawks. Expect high ownership throughout Detroit’s roster. Morris could likely be one of those.
