NFL DFS Sunday Night Football: FanDuel single game picks
By Hans Geevers
Sunday Night Football presents the DFS/FanDuel community with the NFC Championship game! Let’s take a look at this game from a fantasy football perspective!
Before we dive into my Fanduel player selections let’s briefly review the rules for the fanduel single game contest.
The rules for the fanduel single game contest are rather simple. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your lineup’s MVP. The MVP accumulates 1.5 times the standard FanDuel points.
The remaining four players in your lineup will obtain the standard points. Having stated that, it is highly important to select the select the correct player for your MVP position if you hop to win a FanDuel single game contest.
If you have additional questions regarding the single game contest I highly recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.
Here are my player selections for the FanDuel single game contest!
MVP-Davante Adams $14,500
As I evaluated the player pool for this single game slate, I determined early on that I wanted to identify a player for my MVP position that was rock solid with regard to fantasy points in the NFC Championship game regardless of the game script. For me, that player is none other than Davante Adams.
Why do I like Adams as my MVP? Well, let’s take a look at some key facts. Davante Adams leads the Green Bay Packers in receiving targets by a wide margin for the season. Adams has more than double the receiving targets than the second leading receiver on the Packers team. Keep in mind that Adams missed four regular season games and he still has double the receiving targets! Think about that for a second.
In the Packers last four games, Adams has been targeted by quarterback Aaron Rodgers a whopping 53 times! In that same four game span, Davante Adams has averaged an impressive 21.68 FanDuel points a game!
In my opinion, Davante Adams has the highest ceiling of any player on this single game slate. For that reason, I am rolling with Davante Adams as my MVP.
Flex Plays
Jimmy Garoppolo $14,500
When I look at the two teams in this game, it is pretty clear to me that the San Francisco 49ers offense has a clear advantage with regard to likely success in this game. Why do I say that? At the end of the day, the game of football is all about matchups. For me, from a personnel standpoint, San Francisco has an advantage in the NFC Championship game.
Having stated that, I am going with San Francisco quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo as one of my flex plays in this game. Although Garappolo’s recent game statistics do not pop off the page, don’t be fooled into thinking he is not capable of putting up some outstanding fantasy point totals. An example of Jimmy’s ability to perform from a fantasy perspective can be seen in a game versus the New Orleans Saint earlier this season. In the 49ers week 13 win over the Saints, Garoppolo accumulated a very impressive 29.06 FanDuel points!
I think his fantasy production will come down to the game script. In my opinion, the 49ers will have to throw more than they have been recently. Do to that opinion, I am taking a chance on Jimmy Garoppolo as a flex play for this one game slate.
George Kittle $13,500
How important is George Kittle to the San Francisco 49ers offense? That question can clearly be answered by pointing out some relevant facts. First of all, Kittle is targeted early and often by San Francisco quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo each and every week.
Let’s just look at a recent set of games to provide clarity to that statement. In the 49ers last four games, George Kittle has been targeted an unbelievable 37 times! It has to be said that when given the opportunity that Kittle produces a high number of fantasy points. In that same four game just mentioned, Kittle has averaged 13.05 FanDuel points a game.
Mason Crosby $9,000
I see a game script in the NFC Championship game where the Green Bay Packers offense will stall in the redzone multiple times. Due to that opinion, I am rolling with Packers kicker Mason Crosby as a flex play.
It also should be noted that Crosby has converted the majority of his field goals when given the opportunity as well. Crosby has attempted seven field goals in the Packers last three games. Of those seven field goals attempted, Crosby made six of those attempts.
Kendrick Bourne $8,000
For my last flex play selection, I am going with San Francisco wide receiver Kendrick Bourne. I have watched a number of 49ers game this season. One thing I have noticed from watching those games is that 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo likes to target Kendrick Bourne in the redzone.
Bourne played quite well in the 49ers win over the Vikings last week. In the San Francisco win over Minnesota, Bourne had an impressive 11.5 FanDuel points. Hopefully, he can continue to contribute to the 49ers offense in this Sunday’s NFC Championship game!
As always, good luck!
