NFL uniform power rankings: The top 100 of all-time
20. 1972 Washington Redskins
The Redskins switched to this scheme in 1972 and have largely stayed the same since. It was the right move, because while the other uniforms in franchise history are solid, this is a classic.
19. 1979 Houston Oilers
The Luv Ya Blue Oilers hold a special place in Houston history. They were also one of the best-dressed clubs in the sport, with that oil rig eliciting great memories.
18. 1990 Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles have a league-high seven entries on our list, but this tops the charts. The kelly green, the eagle clutching a football on the sleeve, it was all working.
17. 1986 New York Giants
Some will argue with this and say the “NY” uniforms of both the current age and the 1960s should be the Giants’ highest-ranked uniform. Lawrence Taylor and Phil Simms disagree.
16. 1976 Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins had a nice look for most of Dan Marino’s career as well, but the original uniform was the best. Clean, good lines, and aqua for days.
15. 1968 New York Jets
New York is changing its uniform again, leaving these classics in the lurch. Hate to see it, because Joe Namath’s duds remain tops.
14. 1981 San Francisco 49ers
The wide stripe. The red and gold playing off each other. The interlocking “S” and “F.” All of it works together to form a classic. Winning four Super Bowls didn’t hurt, either.
13. 1987 Denver Broncos
The Broncos pulled off orange as a primary color better than any other team in NFL history. By a wide margin, at that. Plus, the helmet is magnificent.
12. 1986 Cleveland Browns
The rare team where the white uniforms are the best look. Cleveland has a clean, crisp uniform in the above shot. The current uniforms? Yikes.
11. 1976 Baltimore Colts
The Colts have long been identified by the white helmet adorned with a blue horseshoe. From Bert Jones to Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck, it remains timeless.
