8. Georgia vs. Florida

Date: Saturday, Oct. 31 – Week 9 (at TIAA Bank Field – Jacksonville, FL)

It’s never a dull affair when it comes to the Cocktail Party in Jacksonville. There is no love lost between the Georgia Bulldogs and Florida Gators in a rivalry that’s known by two different names — Georgia-Florida and Florida-Georgia — depending on which side of the coin you depend to fall on. And a big part of the reason why this rivalry is so heated is that it often determines who wins the SEC East.

That should again be the case in the 2020 college football season but, perhaps more importantly, it’s also a time when the tides may have finally turned. Georgia has owned the SEC East in recent years and, as such, has had a hold on Florida for a couple of seasons as well. For 2020, however, that may change as the Gators have the talent and opportunity to take back that spot from the Bulldogs.

Dan Mullen has done a phenomenal job in Gainesville since taking over as head coach and seemingly found his long-searched-for answer at quarterback this past season with Kyle Trask. Though imperfect, Trask brought enough playmaking and stability to the offense to finally allow Florida to be a team that could flirt with their potential. With a year of experience under his belt, big things are expected from this Gators group.

On the contrary, there are questions for Georgia as Wake Forest transfer Jamie Newman takes over for the departed Jake Fromm and as the Dawgs look to replace several offensive linemen and star running back D’Andre Swift.

So not only do we have an always heated rivalry but we have a game that could determine the standings of arguably the best conference in the sport and one where the Gators could take back control of the proceedings. What more could you want?
