They are narrow betting favorites, and here are five reasons the Kansas City Chiefs will win Super Bowl 54.

Super Bowl 54 feels like the best game we could have possibly gotten, as the Kansas City Chiefs will take on the San Francisco 49ers in Miami on Sunday. Two productive offenses brings the promise for an exciting, back and forth, closely contested game with the betting lines to show it.

The Chiefs’ last Super Bowl appearance came in Super Bowl 4, when they beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-7 led by quarterback Len Dawson. It’s been a lengthy drought for the franchise, and their long-suffering fans.

The Chiefs, of course, nearly reached the Super Bowl last year, with an ill-timed offsides penalty late in the fourth quarter of the AFC Championship Game and the lack of opportunity to answer a touchdown in overtime helping to keep them from beating the New England Patriots. The next step seemed oh so close, and they got over that hump.

They are the betting favorites, for whatever it’s worth and however slimly, but here are five reasons the Kansas City Chiefs will win Super Bowl 54.

5. Andy Reid

Reid is arguably the best head coach to never win a Super Bowl, and he’ll be coaching in the biggest game of them all for the second time in his career on Sunday. His players surely want to win it for him and are hyper-focused on doing so, which can be overblown but also could matter a lot within a narrow margin to determine a win or a loss.

Reid’s adaptability as an offensive mind is underrated, as he’s taken the core principles of the West Coast Offense he came up in as a coach and added ever more prevalent college concepts to them. Having dynamic talent available helps, but plenty of coaches have failed to get the most out  of players by remaining stuck to their antique philosophies.

San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan is also one of the best offensive minds around, so it will be quite a matchup in that way. But an intangible edge leans toward Reid, and he may have something surprising up his sleeve.
